why are the passengers thrown outwards when a car in which they are travellingsuddenly takes a circular turn?

Answer :

When a car is in motion, the passengers in the car will be in a state of motion, suddenly when the driver takes a sharp turn, the passengers tend to move outwards in order to maintain direction of inertia of motion because only the direction of car changes when its take turns.

In a moving vahicle passengers travelling in it are also in the state of motion and when suddenly takes a circular curve passengers maintain their position and so thrown out this is due to inertia and if the turn their body with the continuously rotating car they can avoid from going outside from car.
